De Volkskrant: ORBI plays metal on classical instruments. (and good too)
"We want to free our instruments from the limitations with which they are always associated," says promoter Bram van Sambeek. "It is great for all four of us to be able to show what our instruments really have to offer".
The combination of the classical instruments with the hard-core repertoire makes it extra exciting, but those two worlds have more in common than you might think. The classical roots of a band like Muse, for example, are very recognizable by their use of choral music, classical instruments and their "quotes" from compositions by Rachmaninov, Chopin and Saint-Saëns. We are looking forward to be surprised on this Sunday afternoon in Porgy and Bess!
ORBI is:
Bram van Sambeek bassoon, classically educated, winner of the Dutch Music Prize
Rick Stotijn double bass, classically educated, winner of the Dutch Music Prize
Marijn Korff the Guide percussion, classically educated
