Harpist Remy van Kesteren was admitted to the Utrecht conservatory at the age of ten. He graduated with the highest award in 2010. He then continued his education at the redoubtable Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and in 2012 he graduated for his masters ‘summa cum laude’ at the Amsterdam Conservatory.

He won many prizes, the Elisabeth Evertsprijs for exceptional young talent, The first prize at the Prinses Christina Contest. In 2008 he won the 3 rd prize of the International Harp Contest in Moscow and in 2009 the prestigious International Harp Contest in Israel. In 2013 he won the USA International Harp Competition and finally culminating this list with the Nederlandse Muziekprijs, the highest reward of the Ministry of Culture of the Netherlands.

He performed all over the world. Some highlights: At the age of 16 he made his debut in the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, he played on the occasion of the birth of the Crown Princess Amalia and played in Carnegie Hall in New York City.

But Remy van Kesteren wants more than the regular classical repertoire. Het searched for other musicians and music forms. He played with jazz trumpeter Eric Vloeimans, multi talent soprano Nora Fischer, jazz horn player Morris Kliphuis and all-rounder Martin Fondse. He developed a revolutionary harp with 49 strings, instead of the traditional 47, capable to play acoustical classical music as well as amplified music. “Van Kesteren asks questions of life” according to Joost Galema in NRC Handelsblad.

Martin Fondse is one of the most creative and original composer/arrangers in the country, well known for his work in jazz and contemporary music. He plays piano and vibrandoneon, a baroque version of the melodica. He studied piano and composition at the conservatory of Arnhem and at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, Germany he studied with the famous trombonist, composer and arranger Bob Brookmeyer. In 1996 he followed piano lessons by Kenny Werner.

He received composition assignments from the North Sea Jazz Festival and from the VPRO broadcasting company. He composed and arranged for very different ensembles and orchestra’s such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Metropole Orchestra. the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. He was the leader of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NJJO) in 2015/16. He made 12 albums as a leader and contributed to many albums as arranger and performer.

Het received many international and national awards for his orchestral work and film scores, such as the Zilveren Notenkraker 2016 (NJJO), an Edison Award for Jazz (2012) and the Buma Boy Edgar Prize (2017) the Dutch most celebrated award for jazz musicians. Martin played earlier in Porgy en Bess with the Matangi String Quartet together with trumpeter Eric Vloeimans and mezzo soprano Tania Kross. In 2018 he played here with his Boy Edgar Prize touring band.
