On a sunny day, viola player Odile Torenbeek went to the Noordermarkt in A'dam for a slice of apple pie and found the chanson-singing Charlotte, accompanied by a French friend on guitar. Odile fell in love with her performance, formed a string quartet around her, called the best arrangers in the country, Paul Prenen and Wijnand van Klaveren, et voilà: chansons like you have not heard in ages!
After a surprising performance in the music program Podium Witteman, it turned out that Café des Chansons could no longer remain a public secret and many performances in the country followed. The NRC was taken by surprise by the "beautifully intimate and authentic performance" at the Wonderfeel festival. Het Parool awarded the company's CDs with 5 stars!
Instrumentation: Charlotte Haesen, vocals, Robert Lis violin, Tessa Badenhoop, violin, Odile Torenbeek, viola, Anjali Tanna, cello.
