Born in Buffalo NY in 1936, Don Menza started playing the tenor sax at the age of 13 and after military service he became a soloist and arranger in the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra (1960 - 1962). After a brief engagement with Stan Kenton and a stay in Germany he was asked in 1968 for the "jazz tenor chair" in the renowned Big Band of Buddy Rich with which he recorded the famous solo cadences in "Channel 1 Suite", live at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas. It became a classic with teachers and soloists.

He eventually settled in California where he worked as a teacher and in the studios with, among others, Elvin Jones and Louie Bellson. He made recordings for the labels Saba (in Germany), Discwasher, Realtime and Palo Alto and was in the Tonight Showband with Johnny Carson for a long time.

His compositions such as "Groovin" Hard "and "Time Check", both favorites of Doc Severinsen's NBC Orchestra and Buddy Rich's Big Band, became standards in the worldwide jazz repertoire. He gave a few memorable concerts in Porgy and Bess in the 90s during various Schelde Jazz Festivals.

Don Menza was incorporated in 2005 in Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.

Guitarist Dan Nicholas is from New York but has been operating from The Hague since 2001, from where he is very active in the Dutch jazz scene but also performs on renowned European stages such as Ronnie Scott’s, London, A Train, Berlin and Duc Des Lombards, Paris. He is the musical director of the band of Marjorie Barnes, Equinox and has played with greats like Mike LeDonne, Gary Smulyan, Dado Moroni and Gene Jackson, all known for performances in Porgy and Bess.

Marius Beets is one of the most asked bass players in the Netherlands and surrounding countries. For many years he was the bass player of the Rein de Graaff Trio, the Houdinis and countless other formations. He played with greats such as Johnny Griffin, James Moody, Deborah Brown, Bud Shank, Jeff Hamilton, Dave Liebman and brother Peter Beets. He has been on stage with us quit a few times.

The Austrian drummer Bernd Reiter received a very solid education, both classical and jazz, at the KUG in Graz where he obtained his masters. He parted in workshops with greats such as Billy Cobham, Bruno Castellucci, John Riley, Lewis Nash, Charli Persip and Jimmy Cobb and played with a huge number of well-known jazz maestro's, too many to mention. He is the organizer of the annual European campaigns of Don Menza.
