Peter Beets Electric Band
Jazz
Sound bars instead of strings: Peter Beets plays an electric piano in his Electric Band, which changed the world when it appeared half a century ago: Fender Rhodes. The warm, woolly and sometimes grumpy sound immediately conquered a central place in popular music. Jazz musicians also started experimenting with this new sound world. Dutch contemporary jazz heroes Ruud Breuls and Peter Beets with his quartet play compositions from this exciting time by Herbie Hancock and Freddie Hubbar Read more

Merel Vercammen
The Zoo
Improvisation in classical music, you don't hear that often. Violinist Merel Vercammen changes this with her new album The Zoo, which consists entirely of improvised music. 'I want to bring surprise back to the genre.', Headlined the NOS in September 2019. Merel Vercammen invited eight musicians to record duo improvisations, and the result is a collection of “instant compositions” that reminded her of animals. Two of these musicians are accordionist Wilco Oomkes and cellist Maya Fridman. In this concert Maya, Wilco and Merel play a number of free improvisations according to the concept of The Zoo, as well as a number of classical compositions by Franck, Purcell and Bartók. Read more

Van Merwijk has since initiated numerous projects in various compositions in the field of Cuban music, global groove, jazz and improvised music. Now In 2020, he finally finds the ideal musical duo partner in trombonist Ilja Reijngoud; with an urge for musical freedom, improvisation and experiment. A new, idiosyncratic and brilliant musical adventure is the result. Read more
