John toured Japan with trumpeter Chet Baker. Two albums were released, as well as the DVD Live in Tokyo. Engels plays on more than 50 records, won 6 Edisons, a Bird Award, the Boy Edgar Prize and last September John Engels received the Frans Banninck Cock Penning in Amsterdam.
Bassist Joris Teepe has lived in New York since 1992 and since 2013 also in Amsterdam for part of the year. Joris worked with Benny Golson, Don Braden, Charles McPherson, Bobby Watson, Sonny Fortune, Tom Harrell, Chris Potter, Billy Hart and Randy Brecker.
He made 19 albums as a band leader and his 16th CD 'In The Spirit of Rashied Ali' was nominated for an Edison. With the band of Rashied Ali (John Coltrane's last drummer) he toured for 9 years mainly in America and Europe.
The Netherlands' most famous saxophonist Benjamin Herman has worked with a variety of musicians, from the funky Candy Dulfer and Dr. John to the more avant-garde oriented Han Bennink and Misha Mengelberg.
He has appeared on over a hundred albums, including 16 as a bandleader and with his band New Cool Collective. In 2006 Herman won the Boy Edgar Prize.
